OUTOKUMPU Avesta boosts AOD and LF with UTCAS®

In October 2017, UHT finalized the installation of a new level 2 real-time process control system UTCAS® to OUTOKUMPU Stainless in Avesta, Sweden. The delivery and implementation work by UHT includes update of the current level 1/PLC for the AOD and a UTCAS® process control system for both existing AOD and Ladle Furnace operations. The delivery contains also a long-term system and process support agreement.

– Now we have the tools to further trim our performance in the AOD and LF operations. This is highly necessary to meet the demand for high quality stainless steel grades while also increasing our operational flexibility and improving our cost efficiency. With the accuracy of the UTCAS real-time system and that the new system platform allows the AOD and LF process to directly share data enables continued process improvements.
