Start-up of Turnkey AOD Converter at PIOMA Odlewnia
The AOD converter operations are fully automated by the level 2 UTCAS® process control system.
UHT has in April 2019 started up an AOD converter refining plant for the foundry company PGO S.A., Poland at their plant PIOMA Odlewnia in Piotrków Trybunalski, south west of Warsaw. The AOD has a 7 tonnes capacity as to produce special and stainless steel grades needed for their foundry products. The project is a turnkey project by UHT which included civil works, rooms and fume treatment plant.
Mr Piotr Nowicki, branch director, declares that:
“The AOD supply from UHT will allow PIOMA Odlewnia to enter a completely new area of metallurgical possibilities – secondary metallurgy. As a result of this technological revolution, we will obtain a higher quality of cast steel.”
UHT– Uvån Hagfors Teknologi AB is a Swedish technology supplier of AOD and CLU® Converter refining plants as well GRANSHOT® Metal Granulation units with related services for producers of special and stainless steel, pig iron, ferroalloys and base metals.
