Unique AOD converter tilting solution
Load imbalance and gas injection cause severe converter vibrations during AOD refining which leads to extensive wear on equipment such as the converter drive. To address this problem, UHT has developed a unique hydraulic converter drive solution for AOD tilting replacing conventional gearbox based electro-mechanical drives. With a hydraulic drive the AOD operation gains:
- Full torque from zero speed
- Prevention of vibrations and shock loads
- Increased vessel capacity.
UHT’s hydraulic converter drive is included in every AOD and CLU converter delivery or implemented as replacement of electromechanical drives during converter revamps.
